PROJECT TITLE:

Northern Territory Regional Training Network Workforce Planning

CLIENT: Northern Territory General Practice Education

DATE: 2014 - 2015

This project was undertaken in conjunction with Karen O’Connor. The purpose of the project was to position the Northern Territory Regional Training Network (NTRTN) to engage in a workforce planning process with key NT stakeholders in 2015. This process considered current and projected models of care, workforce demand and supply, necessary skills of the workforce and workforce capacity to meet the future health needs of the Northern Territory. An Environmental Scan was undertaken of relevant service and workforce initiatives, and interviews were held with key stakeholders to identify key issues and strategies to address those issues. The data analysis included the clinical workforce across the NT inclusive of: Medical; Nursing and Midwifery; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker/Practitioner and Allied Health for both the total health workforce and the public sector workforce.
