The WQPHN engaged Kristine Battye and Hugh Burke (independently) to work with the WQPHN, Gidgee Healing ACCHO and the North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) to develop a lower gulf strategy for integrated care in the priority areas of chronic disease, child maternal health and youth health.
The development of the strategy included an extensive policy review, development of a detailed health profile for the Lower Gulf, inclusive of a synthesis of previous needs assessments, demographic and epidemiology data analysis. This informed the development of a detailed case for change. We conducted a workshop with key agencies (Gidgee Healing, North West Hospital and Health Service, Western Queensland Primary Health Network) to develop an agreed strategy for service and system redesign to address health needs of Indigenous people in the Lower Gulf.
