Client: Health Workforce Australia

Feasibility Study to establish a Koori Clinical School for Indigenous Health

Project timeline: October - December 2012

Brief description:

Kristine Battye Consulting was contracted by Health Workforce Australia to assess best practice in the development and management of undergraduate student placements in an Indigenous community health setting. HWA is a national agency that aims to address the challenges of providing a skilled and innovative health workforce across Australia.

Outcome:

The feasibility study contributes to the understanding of a range of issues related to the training and support of Indigenous health professionals, and non-Indigenous health professionals that care for and provide clinical services to Indigenous people in a range of settings, and therefore has relevance to the broader objectives of HWA. The project identifies factors impacting on the capacity of ACCHOs to provide placements across a range of disciplines.
