Evaluation of the Practice Nurse Incentive Program

Brief description:

The Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing, introduced the Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP) in January 2012 to support practice nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers working in general practices, Aboriginal Medical Services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services to undertake an expanded and enhanced role in preventive health, chronic disease management and care coordination. The PNIP replaces previous funding arrangements inclusive of the Practice Incentive Program (PIP), Practice Nurse Incentive (PNI) and six of the Medicare Benefits Schedule practice nurse items. The Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing, has contracted Kristine Battye Consulting Pty Ltd (KBC), in collaboration with Thinc Health, to undertake an evaluation of the Practice Nurse Incentive Program. The Evaluation is ongoing.
